Largest North American Hardwoods

These trees are ranked by the AFA champion point system instead of wood volume, which is very is typically very difficult to calculate for broadleaf trees with irregular leaders. The data for Valley & Canyon Live Oaks was collected by Chris Atkins, Michael Taylor and Robert Van Pelt. For other broad leaf trees, espesically those outside California, various sources were used including gymnosperm data base, purple slinky website, and Eastern Native Trees Society.
