Diameters are taken at breast height (4.5 feet or 1.37 meters) above average ground level. Heights are determined by the vertical distance from the top of tree, living or dead, to the average ground level of tree. Accuracy is (+,-) 1 feet or better unless stated. The tallest pine tree ever measured, a sugar pine, is now a snag. It was last measured by Steve Sillett using a climber deployed tapeline at 82.2m (269.68').
